NOCN Courses
We offer NOCN-certified courses in Maths, English, and ICT, designed to build essential skills and support student success.
NOCH English
NOCN Functional Skills qualifications are designed to give learners the essential practical skills they need to get on in life and to work effectively.
Maths and English are central to work and life and increasingly IT and digital communication skills are becoming equally as essential. People generally need to be able to speak, read and understand, communicate clearly in writing, use numbers confidently and correctly and then apply these skills using various computer applications (word packages, spread sheets, email) and devices (smart phones, laptops, tablets).
The key to comprehension for many people is the application of functional skills and knowledge – how does maths work in the real world? What is the point of learning English? How is this knowledge relevant? Functional Skills are applied, practical, and relevant and can be tailored to suit the needs of an individual.
From speaking clearly to give health and safety instruction, to working out a customer’s change; from emailing a report to your manager to updating a social media status – all of these require competence in Function Skills and NOCN has a suite of relevant qualification to suit all levels.

The key elements of the Study Programme are:
Functional literacy and numeracy skills, we support learners to reach functional skills at Level 2 in both numeracy and literacy by the time they finish their learning programme.
Vocational qualifications are accessible to all no matter what levels the young person is working to, our vocational programmes meet the needs of each individual student tailored to each student, as everyone is different. these courses can be anything from construction, farm work, cooking, social care and much, much more.
Work experience, we aim to support all learners into external work placements. This enables the development of good employment skills and with support provides an environment which enables learners to build their confidence and understanding of the world of work.
